For Typography, my friend and peer, Kelly and I were assigned to a film festival here in Calgary.

Both Kelly and I consume East Asian content regularly. Also, Western Canada has a substantial Asian population. We passionately made an Asian Film Festival for Calgary.

We named it Hoshi, which means star in Japanese, to represent the hidden light in the stars that Asians are in Canadian culture (Kelly spoke on this as she is Cantonese).

It was important to combine Asian languages along with English to show how the identity of our brand relies on all languages and cultures combined to make Calgary and this festival. The Kanji frames the word "Hoshi" as the first example.

We made an app for the tickets and the wayfinding as it applies. The brochure is given as a star and is unravelled to show the information.
